Whether you’re looking for a DIY project or general tip for wedding, you can find what you’re looking for right here. We got married in September 2014. We organized an outdoor, back yard reception on one of the hottest days in the fall. We planned a small wedding of less than 100 people and ended up being almost 100% DIY. We loved every minute of it. This category features all of our DIY projects and general wedding tips rolled up into one, easy location. We cover everything from budgeting to vendors to flowers to DIY. We can’t say it was the easiest way to throw a wedding, but we wouldn’t have changed a thing. We made every project featured here. Let’s be honest, we loved everything from that day. Leave a comment if you have one. If you’re looking for something more specific use our search bar or check out one of our niche categories. Thanks for stopping by, hope to have you back soon!

Wedding Invitations

DIY Wedding Invitations

When looking at the budget and various quotes, our Save the Dates, Wedding Invitations, and RSVPs was a line we knew we could cut down on costs and designed our own. I was looking forward to designing our own Save the Dates and Invitations since I love doing that already. The majority of people cannot, and it makes sense to have someone else design them, and that’s ok. For us,…

Vendor Spotlight: Alyssa’s Cakery

April 1, 2015
Alyssa's Cakery

Before you read, it’s important to note this post not sponsored. We loved our food vendors and wanted to show them some extra love. When planning your wedding, vendors are key. Finding the right vendor can be tricky. Since our wedding took place in my hometown, we went with local vendors. The first vendor we locked down, was Alyssa’s Cakery. In the year before booking her, we had so many…

DIY Photo Booth: Equipment Work Flow

March 11, 2015
Photo Booth

Photo booths are a great activity to have at your wedding. One way to cut this cost from your budget is to setup your own. There are so many ways to set up your own booth; iPads, point and shoot cameras, phones, Polaroids, and DSLRs. For our wedding, I setup a photo booth using my own DSLR equipment and built the backdrop out of old doors. Lilies and Loafers has affiliate…

Wedding Websites and Handy Apps

March 11, 2015
Wedding Website

As technology continues to make our lives easier and more millennials begin to get married, the more we’ll see wedding websites. Once a spot for basic information, wedding websites have now become a place to not only find that important info, but to see photos, video and even RSVP. We wanted our wedding website to be a go-to resource our friends and family could access at anytime in the event they…

Best Woman

February 25, 2015

While thinking about who Fatima and I wanted to stand up for us, a few people came to mind. Ultimately, I decided on my sister, Colleen. I’m from a large, close family, and picking Coll was a no-brainer. But how? How do you ask your sister to be your best woman? Well, like most of my family, she’s a sentimental sap when it comes to a good, heartfelt gift. Christmas…

We’re All About That Budget (And Who’s On Your Guest List)

February 11, 2015
Wedding Budget

Congratulations on your engagement! Now, it’s time to start thinking about how soon you want to start dropping thousands of dollars. One, two, three years from now? Whenever that may be, you’ll need to decide how much you and your fiancé are willing to spend. No matter what you are going to plan, from this point on everything will be sent through your budget filter – that is if you don’t…

DIY Photo Booth: A Year in Review

February 5, 2015
Photo Booth

It’s been a fantastic year. I think we can all safely say 2014 was the year of the photo booth, partially driven by the #selfie movement. My craze with the photo booth started about a year ago at Christmas. I brought my Canon to my Aunt’s party on Christmas Eve and setup a simple Kraft paper background with a “Merry Christmas” sign. We made photo booth props from designs online…

A Lilies and Loafers Wedding (An Overdue Update)

February 4, 2015

This is an overdue post we never got to write. If you don’t follow us on some of our social accounts, then you may not know that we got hitched in September! Yes, September, I told you this was an overdue post. Now onto our wedding… Wedding of the Year September 27, 2014 was a hot day in the northeast. If you don’t remember, the 27th was a hot summer day. Right…

Garden Thyme: Wedding Cleaning

September 10, 2014
Garden Cleaning

Ahhh, what a summer! Although the heat wasn’t as bad, this rainless summer was not good for my plants. While I had an abundance of almost everything I planted, I had a small window to harvest my crops before they began to wither. This summer was so dry, but I was surprised by how juicy my tomatoes were this season. Usually I’d wait until October to start cleaning up my space, but there…

Garden Thyme: Mums

August 27, 2014
Wedding Mums

As fall comes to an end, there’s always room for more planting! Chrysanthemum, also known as mums, are the most popular flower to grow and bloom in the fall and caring for them is easy. I started a bunch of pots around the yard to prep for Brian and Fatima’s wedding. We’re trying to do a little more DIY with the flowers, so here’s to hoping they’ll be ready! I…

Wedding Wednesday: We Are Getting Hitched

January 29, 2014
Lilies and Loafers

In late October, I proposed to Fatima, adding another chapter to our 5-year story in the making. And now, we are getting hitched…THIS YEAR! When I was shopping around for ring, I casually asked Fatima her ring size. I think she was too stressed with her CPA exam to question my question, so she just looked at me and said, “It’s a 7, you should know that.” So what did…
