We are so excited for our son’s first Valentine’s Day! Like any first holiday, we are more excited to get him involved in whatever cute DIY Valentine craft we are creating. So, we decided to make these adorable stamped feet cards and sent them to our family.

Do you remember those Valentine’s Day cards you would buy in grade school? They were themed for whatever cartoon character you loved. They were perforated in a set of six or eight and each character card had a different saying. A foldable mailbox was included, too! Every year, we’d run to the store and pick a ‘themed’ card to hand out in class. I’d always go through the cards and pick out the best ones for my friends and crushes. Oh, nostalgia!

A Valentine craft to do with your kids

It was really easy to make this Valentine craft. I bought a washable, kid-safe ink pad and some Valentine’s Day cards. Fatima wrote a little note, we threw some shredded paper in the cards for a little surprise, and that was it! When I bought these cards, I was trying to remember how big our son’s feet were. They’re big, so I took a risk on these little cards. Thankfully, his feet fit in these cards.

Our son is active and does not like to sit still. So here are a few tips to get through this project when your kids are not having it:

  • Give them a toy. Our son kept busy with one of his teethers until the last few cards.
  • Do one foot at a time. Start with the right foot and stamp all the cards. Clean the foot and then stamp the left foot. It was so much easier to do it this way than trying to stamp both feet.
  • Bring the stamp and the card to your kid’s foot. No sense in trying to make them stand up and stamp the card with their weight. Not happening.
