Five Favorite Things: October 2019

1 Mins read

Happy Halloween! Trick or Treating or staying inside? We’ve had our share of Halloween family fun over these last few weekends. Mercury goes into retrograde today, so that’s the only sign I need to stay inside. Luckily, it will be out of retrograde by the time we get to Thanksgiving, phew!

When I got off the train, there were so many kids trick or treating. It’s our first Halloween in Astoria and we are amazed at how many kids were out. When we were on the upper east side, there were a few, but I bet they stuck to the high rises they lived in. In East Harlem, we never really saw kids out. But Astoria? The streets are packed even in the rain, I love it! What are you doing for Halloween?

Here’s a round-up of our five favorite things for October 2019!

1. Jack O Lantern & Ghost Mugs

When Pottery Barn launched their Halloween mugs, I was all over them and purchased the jack-o-lantern mug. They also had a ghost mug, but they sold out in August! Thankfully, Target had their own line of spooky mugs, and that’s where I got the ghost mug!

2. New Pumpkin Wreath

My sister gifted Fatima this Pumpkin Wreath. It’s a great addition to our fall-loving home.

3. DIY Pumpkin Wreath

But if you ever want to make your own pumpkin wreath.

4. Apple Cider Donuts

I took a shot at frying apple cider donuts. I think I fried them 30 seconds too long, however, they were still delicious.

5. Liam’s Halloween Costume

We originally had another idea for Halloween this year however, when we put this costume on Liam in Marshalls, we were sold.

Bonus: Pillsbury Halloween Sugar Cookies

These sugar cookies are the best. They are so popular that last year I could not find them anywhere near me. This year, I stocked up the minute I saw them in the stores.

Take the edge off heading into the New Year with a lavender lemonade mocktail. Yes, that’s right, a MOCKTAIL! We made this the other night and we were so relaxed, we passed out as soon as our heads hit the pillow. It’s a perfect mocktail to make when you want to chill out.
