Every Halloween, Fatima and I do a couple’s costume. In college, we were Peter Pan and Tiger Lily, then themed to Shondaland’s Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder, went easy and comfortable with Salt and Pepper, and then Harry Potter. Last year, we stayed in and sat on the couch dressed up as a pregnant married couple. Now, we have a third wheel that has to be themed with us. Our friend Nick sent us the cutest pumpkin costume for Liam. Since he steals the spotlight, we will be theming with him. After a quick trip to Michaels, I made these Jack-O-Lantern Halloween Costumes for Fatima and me.

These DIY Jack-O-Lantern Halloween Costumes are perfect for new parents. They don’t need a lot of brainpower, they’re easy to make, and cost just under $16! More importantly, they let your LO hog the spotlight in their cute AF costume.
Shoutout to our friends Edwin for taking our family photos on the townhouse stoop and Nick for giving Liam his first Halloween costume!
Baby’s First Halloween
It’s Liam’s first [fill in the blank]. His first Halloween has to be extra special and needed to be documented. In the first year, it’s all about the parents anyways, right? He isn’t going to remember his first [fill in the blank]. It’s just an excuse for his parents to dress him up in the cutest things. So for this first Halloween, we get to have all the fun and give him that “first” experience.
A photo shoot in our Jack-O-Lantern Halloween Costumes
When I was a kid, some of my favorite Halloween pastimes are carving pumpkins and decorating the outside of our house. I would gladly pick out and carve all the pumpkins for my family, light them up with candles, and set them up on our doorstep. We’d add cornstalks and haystacks to the gardens and make the outside look super creepy. I loved seeing our neighborhood dressed up for Halloween.
I wanted to get pictures of us in our costumes in front of one of the townhouses in our old neighborhood. When I first moved to the city, I was so amazed by the level of decorating people did to their townhouses. I was so happy to see so much Halloween spirit because it made me feel like I was back home.
On our strolls on the weekends in October, we’d walk by this one townhouse that used their stoop so perfectly when decorating for Halloween. That was the one that stuck out in my head and knew it had to be our backdrop; it just oozed Halloween spirit.
After I made these t-shirts, I thought about going back to Michaels to pick up a few more shirts in other colors. Would love to make ghost faces on white t-shirts!
