Spring into Spring: Living Room Refresh

March 22, 2015
Cleaning can be a mundane task, and typically held off until the weekends (or not done at all). When you live in a small space, clutter can make it feel even smaller. That’s why it’s important to keep your space clean. Jumpstart your spring cleaning with us!

We needed to refresh our living room with a new couch. The couch we had for the past 3 years was a hand-me-down from my parents. While a nice couch, this decade-old piece of furniture was running out of life and comfort. And that slip cover made me feel like we were in a college apartment. One way to make a small space feel bigger is to buy normal-sized pieces of furniture. People who have small spaces think they need to buy many small pieces of furniture to fill it up. This is not the case. We upgraded our couch from a two-seater to a four seater and our living room feels so much bigger.

If you’re not in the market for a new couch, refresh your space with new pillow covers. We opted in for an array of patterns, textures, and colors.

Refresh your space with fresh flowers and change out displayed books. These are small things you can do to make a big impact on refreshing your space.

To add more storage to your small space, find a coffee table that can act as storage while still providing a surface. We got this trunk at HomeGoods, and it holds our guest bedding, blankets, and other things we don’t need to use that often.

Our media cables were a hot tangled mess. While you can still see them, you’d be surprised what a few zip ties can do. While you’re at it, organize your media cabinet – especially if it has windows!
