Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie

Since The Chew was cancelled and is currently living off repeats, our new favorite show is The Kitchen on Food Network. About a month ago, Jeff Mauro showed off his No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie. As the segment went on, we found ourselves drooling over it. We had to make it.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie

When it’s hot out, it’s annoying to turn on the oven. Even with the air conditioning on, when the oven heat hits your face you just want to curl up and cry. Since this chocolate peanut butter pie is a no-bake recipe it’s a perfect thing to make on a hot summer day.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie

For a No-Bake dessert, this chocolate peanut butter pie is very simple to make.

This pie is like eating the inside of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. If you love peanut butter just as much as I do, then you will love this pie. You get peanut butter in every form. Whipped, drizzle, and crushed peanuts. The chocolate shell drizzle on top of the cold pie adds a great textured crunch.

Almost everything about this pie is perfect. However, it is very rich. When I had my first bite, my taste buds were firing on all cylinders as they registered the loaded peanut butter flavor and all the sugar. On the second time I made this, I cut down the powdered sugar to just a half cup used in the cool whip. It’s hands down a decadent dessert, but you’ll want to be mindful of the size of the slices.

For a no-bake dessert, it’s very simple to make. The store-bought graham cracker crust makes it easy to whip up in no-time. The filling is very straight forward. However, I had issues with the peanut butter topping. For some reason it was not thinning. I had to keep adding water (per the directions) to get it to a drizzle consistency. It was probably a me-problem and not a recipe problem. However, I completely missed adding the vanilla in the peanut butter drizzle. That is a recipe problem, it’s missing from the directions. On the second time I made this, I skipped the peanut butter drizzle. Didn’t miss it.

We’ll definitely be making this no bake chocolate peanut butter pie again, and again. I might wait another month to let the sugar burn off. Check out Jeff’s recipe and make one yourself!
