Hey you, we see you. Thanks for finding us. Right now, we are (by “we” I mean “the world”) going through something really awful. We’re all feeling something: stressed, upset, anxious, isolated, and a million other emotions all at once. You’re not alone. No, really, we want you to know that. While we may not be able to enjoy the physical presence of our friends, family, and neighbors right now, we will get there. We want you to know that we are here for you and we will all get through this. Be strong. Stay safe. Stay home.

Easter is not canceled. To say otherwise means you have turned your back on your faith. The only thing that’s canceled is your Easter brunch with friends. We are far from canceling the commemoration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. However, brunch doesn’t have to be canceled because you are staying home. After listening or streaming Easter Sunday mass, make some cinnamon rolls, breakfast pizza, these mini Cadbury Egg kissed pretzels, and set up a group video chat with your family and friends.

Like much of the world, we are hunkering down in our apartment and staying home to flatten the curve. We’re pulling out all the stops to entertain our active toddler. We’re chasing each other around the house, taking cautious walks down to the train tracks to watch the subways go by, coloring, singing, reading, building blocks, napping, and shooting Hot Wheels down the hallway. Our son has always been so curious about what we’re doing in the kitchen. Especially when we’re making fried rice, one of his favorites! To fuel his curiosity, I let him help me with all my prep work.

With some guidance, our son can count to twenty. So for these mini Cadbury Egg kissed pretzels, I had him count out two piles of twenty Hershey Kisses, mini Cadbury eggs, and pretzels. He helped me load the Hershey Kisses onto the pretzels. Then it was adults only from here since the next few steps involved the hot oven.

The devil makes mini Cadbury eggs because I have no self-control when I’m around them. We mixed it up by getting both milk and royal dark chocolate eggs. Although I usually love dark chocolate everything, I prefer milk chocolate eggs. But let’s talk about the finished product. My son is my son because he loves pretzels, loves chocolate, and loves the combination of the two more. These are a perfect little treat to involve the whole family, or surprising them with a whole bunch in their Easter baskets.

Did you know we have a Christmas version?

Prep Time: 10 minutes Cooking Time: 5 minutes Total Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1-2 bags of mini Cadbury Eggs (milk chocolate or whatever you like)
  • 1 bag of small circular or square pretzels
  • 1 bag of Hershey Kisses

Instructions

1

Preheat your oven to 250 degrees F.

2

Count out your pretzels, eggs, and Hershey Kisses. Use them all up, or make as many as you want. You'll need equal numbers of pretzels, Hershey Kisses, and Cadbury Eggs.

3

Lay all your pretzels on a cookie sheet.

4

Place Hershey Kisses on top of the pretzels.

5

Put them in the oven for about 3-5minutes. 4 minutes is the sweet spot.

6

Remove the cookie sheet from the oven and gently push one mini Cadbury Egg into each Hershey Kiss towards the pretzel. More hands the better because the chocolate will begin to set.

7

Once complete, set them aside to harden. Place in the fridge for about 15 minutes to fully set before eating.

8

Store in an air-tight container if you haven’t eaten them all by now!
