I’m not from Massachusetts, but this cloud slime is WICKED (movie/musical pun intended!), especially with our green and pink color scheme. With the kids home from school, we had a day of reading, scootering, and crafting. One of our favorite projects was this super fluffy cloud slime!
I’ll be honest: I’m not a fan of regular slime. It’s too sticky and the texture just isn’t for me. But cloud slime? That’s a different story. It’s much fluffier and more appealing. My kids had a blast making it, and it kept them entertained for hours (and we even made more a few days later!).
What is Cloud Slime?
Cloud slime has a wonderfully light and airy texture. It’s still a little bit sticky, but it’s significantly fluffier and has more volume than traditional slime. It’s like playing with a soft, stretchy cloud!

DIY Cloud Slime: The Budget-Friendly Way
You can definitely buy a cloud slime kit or pre-made slime, but making it yourself is a fun activity and it’s way cheaper! Our total cost for this project was $11.56, but since the shaving cream and contact solution last for multiple batches, the cost per batch of cloud slime is only $1.94! The glue is the only ingredient you’ll need a new 4oz bottle of each time.
Cloud Slime Ingredients (and Cost Breakdown):
- 4oz bottle of Glue = 99 cents per 4oz bottle
- 2 tbsp (1oz) Contact Solution = $6.99 per 24oz (30 cents per 1oz)
- 2 cups of Shaving cream = $2.59 per 10.5oz can (65 cents per 2 cups)
- 1 drop of food coloring – I did not include the food coloring because the box of food coloring I have is used for cakes and cookies. I probably wouldn’t buy food coloring just for the project unless you can find a cheap alternative.
Making Our “Wicked” Slime: Green and Pink Fun!
What makes our cloud slime “Wicked”? The colors! We made batches of vibrant green and pretty pink, inspired by the musical.
Fluffy Cloud Slime
Cloud slime is fun to make and even more fun to play with! It's fluffy, stretchy, and jiggly.
Ingredients
- 4oz bottle of Glue
- 2 tbsp Contact Solution
- 2 cups of unscented shaving cream
- 1 drop of food coloring—optional
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, dump in 4oz of glue.
If using food coloring, add in a drop or two now. Stir until combined. One drop goes a long way and the color will continue to get richer the more you play with it.
Add in 2 tbsp of contact solution and stir.
Add 2 cups of shaving cream and stir until you can no longer stir.
At this point, you need to knead the slime until it becomes less sticky.
Have fun!
Notes
If you want to add color, food coloring is optional. We made green, pink, and purple. Green and pink combined and eventually morphed into a light blue/pale gray color.
Tips for Playing with Cloud Slime (and Cleaning Up)
We kept the slime play contained to our slime-safe activity table to avoid any messes on furniture or carpets. Even with precautions, my kids still got some slime on their shirts. Luckily, a little Dawn dish soap and a soak in warm water before washing did the trick – the slime came right out!
Hours of Fun with Our DIY Slime
My kids played with this slime for hours! It was a great way to keep them entertained and engaged. I hope you and your kids have as much fun making and playing with it as we did!
