Whether you’re looking for a DIY project or general tip for wedding, you can find what you’re looking for right here. We got married in September 2014. We organized an outdoor, back yard reception on one of the hottest days in the fall. We planned a small wedding of less than 100 people and ended up being almost 100% DIY. We loved every minute of it. This category features all of our DIY projects and general wedding tips rolled up into one, easy location. We cover everything from budgeting to vendors to flowers to DIY. We can’t say it was the easiest way to throw a wedding, but we wouldn’t have changed a thing. We made every project featured here. Let’s be honest, we loved everything from that day. Leave a comment if you have one. If you’re looking for something more specific use our search bar or check out one of our niche categories. Thanks for stopping by, hope to have you back soon!

Anniversary Photo Album

Anniversary Photo Album

To celebrate our ten year wedding anniversary, we treated ourselves to a summer vacation on Martha's Vineyard. However, I wanted to get another little something for Fatima. We have a big gallery wall and some photos around the house, but not many photo albums. I thought maybe I could design an anniversary photo album that captured the last ten years of our time together, our travels, and our kids. I…

Wedding Registry Ideas: Where Are They Now?

September 20, 2024

Oh the Wedding Registry. Over the last 10 years, things have changed. When we started the registry, we built it with practicality at the foundation. While we were building our registry at Macy's and Bed Bath and Beyond (RIP and hello again), we were encouraged to "throw everything we could scan on there".  I went to locate our registries to remind myself what we selected, but they've been lost to…

Martha’s Vineyard in October: Revisiting our Honeymoon

September 4, 2024
Martha's Vineyard in October

When we were planning our honeymoon, we were set on Cabo San Lucas. About two weeks before our wedding, hurricane Odile terrorized the Baja California Peninsula, with Cabo getting hit hard. It was the most violent hurricane in Cabo's history. We prayed for everyone's safety and the area's recovery. We put our Cabo plans on ice, and pivoted to Martha's Vineyard in October.…

Revisiting our Wedding a Decade Later

August 16, 2024
Wedding Lookback

In just six weeks, Fatima and I will be celebrating our 10th Wedding Anniversary! It is absolutely WILD to think we will be hitting this milestone. So much as happened in these last ten years, yet there’s so much more to do. One of the best things to happen since we’ve been married, has been starting our family. Fatima and I wanted to revisit our wedding: the good, the great,…

Champagne Margaritas

September 28, 2016
Champagne Margarita

Yesterday we celebrated our second wedding anniversary! And what better cocktail to celebrate with, than these Champagne Margaritas? Fatima and I met eight years ago when we were students at Hofstra University. The rest is history. And here we are celebrating a wedding anniversary! I can’t believe how fast these last two years have flown by since our wedding. In our photos, we used a souvenir margarita glass we got while on…

#LoveSummer: Honeymoon 2.0

August 19, 2015
Honeymoon 2.0

We finally got to go to Cabo! After Hurricane Odile devastated Cabo about 10 days before our Honeymoon, we weren’t sure when we’d be able to go back. However, we made it a point to get out there this summer for a get-away. When looking for a vacation destination, especially one that’s coastal, Fatima and I just want to relax and take in the sun. With Fatima’s busy work schedule,…

#LoveSummer: His and Her Packing List for a Beach Vacation

August 12, 2015
Cabo Packing list

As you may know, last September we got hitched! What you may not know, was that our Honeymoon was washed away with Hurricane Odile when it devastated Cabo San Lucas, 10 days before we were supposed to leave last year. So we had to shift our plans and ended up in Martha’s Vineyard for the week. It turned out to be fantastic. However, we wanted to get out to Cabo,…

Vendor Spotlight: Our Wedding Photographer

May 20, 2015
Beth Laschever Headshot

Choosing the right event photographer is very important. Choosing the right wedding photographer can be one of the more stressful things. Find someone you like and can connect with. Someone who knows what they’re doing. More importantly, you like their photography style. Every photographer has his or her own style. When thinking about who would capture our big day, we ruled me out. It was going to be hard to take…

A New Yorker’s Guide to Changing Your Name

May 20, 2015
Changing Your Name

It’s important to note that NYC’s name change process will be very different from another city in NY State and even elsewhere in the country. Check with your local government for the rules, processes, and paperwork requirements. Ok you’re married, now what? You may change your relationship status to married and possibly change your last name on Facebook. And that took all of 1 minute, so what’s next?! One of…

Wedding Flowers

May 13, 2015
Wedding Flowers

When Brian and Fatima approached me about doing their wedding flowers I was ecstatic. After a few Skype dates and exchanging ideas on Pinterest, I knew exactly what to do and what to design. It was the perfect backyard Pinterest-y wedding you can ask for. It’s one of those weddings that you see on wedding blogs and magazines and wish your wedding was like that. They wanted to have elements…

DIY Menus, Ad Libs, and Programs

DIY Menus, Ad Libs, and Programs

Like we did for our invitations, if you have the skill set, we had DIY Menus, Ad Libs, and Programs. It’s the easiest way to cut out waste from your budget. Trust me, the little savings add up. However, if you are making these yourself, have them done way in advance and send them around for proofing to at least three people. We decided to DIY Menus, Ad Libs and Programs for…

Vendor Spotlight: Bourassa Catering

April 15, 2015
Bourassa Catering

When planning your wedding, vendors are key. Finding the right vendor can be tricky. Since our wedding took place in my hometown, we went with local vendors. Our second vendor we locked down, was Bourassa Catering. Our Wedding reception was taking place on my parent’s lawn. Thus, we needed a vendor that would be able to work with more than one vendor. It’s important to inquire if one of your…
