Frozen Mimosas: The Ultimate Summer Brunch Drink

Brunch is in season all year. However, I like to think the season resets every spring, somewhere around Easter and Mother’s Day, and then winds down after Christmas and New Year’s. And let’s be honest: brunch just isn’t brunch without a mimosa or another sparkly champagne cocktail.

Lilies and Loafers has affiliate relationships, so we may get a small share of revenue from your purchases. Items are sold by the retailer, not by Lilies and Loafers.

But here’s the thing. When summer hits and the sun is blazing, that chilled mimosa in a flute? It loses a little bit of its magic. That’s when frozen mimosas come in to save the day (and the brunch).

Why Frozen Mimosas are My Go-To Summer Brunch Drink

Frozen mimosas are everything I love about the classic version: bright citrus flavor, fizzy champagne, and that vacation-in-a-glass energy, but with an icy twist that’s absolutely perfect for summer. They’re like an adult slushy that feels fancy and refreshing. Whether you’re hosting a backyard brunch, lounging by the pool, or celebrating something special, this is the drink that says, we’re here for a good time.

They also look stunning in a glass. Frosty, golden-orange with champagne bubbles floating on top? Yes please.

Variations to Try

  • Tropical: Swap in pineapple juice or mango nectar for a sunny twist
  • Berry Bliss: Blend in a handful of frozen strawberries or raspberries
  • Bubbly Bellini: Swap in peach juice instead of the orange concentrate and juice
  • Citrus Party: Mix orange and grapefruit juice for a tangy twist
  • Rosé Mimosas: Use sparkling rosé instead of champagne for a pretty pink vibe

Hosting with Frozen Mimosas

If you’re planning a summer brunch, bridal shower, or friends’ weekend, frozen mimosas are an instant hit. I love setting up a mini mimosa bar with a big pitcher of the frozen base, chilled champagne bottles, and a few juice options. Let guests pour and customize their own blends. It’s interactive, easy, and totally Instagrammable. Maybe we can bring back Boomerangs?

Description

Here’s the recipe I use on repeat all summer long. It’s easy, crowd-pleasing, and totally customizable.

Ingredients

Units
  • 1/2 can of frozen orange juice concentrate
  • 3/4 blender of ice
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 3/4 cup triple sec (or your favorite orange liqueur)
  • Prosecco (Champagne or other sparkling wine

Instructions

  1. Fill your blender ¾ of the way with ice.
  2. Add the frozen orange juice concentrate.
  3. Pour in the orange juice and triple sec.
  4. Blend until smooth, like a grown-up smoothie.
  5. Pour the frozen mimosa base into glasses about ¼ full (or less, if you prefer a stronger Prosecco or champagne flavor).
  6. Top off each glass with chilled Prosecco or champagne.
  7. Serve immediately with a slice of orange or a sprig of mint for that brunch-y flair.

Notes

Pro Tip: While it would be easier to make the base ahead of time, it’s best made in the moment. I can’t get the consistency to stick, even when I put it back in the freezer.

Cheers to Frozen Mimosas All Summer Long

Whether you’re a die-hard brunch lover or just need a fun new cocktail for your summer plans, frozen mimosas are it. They’re simple to make, refreshing, and guaranteed to impress your guests (or just treat yourself).

So next time the temps are rising and you’re craving something bubbly, skip the plain mimosa and blend up a frozen one instead. Trust me. Your brunch game will thank you.

Pin it, save it, sip it. Frozen mimosas are officially your new summer cocktail. Cheers! 🍊🥂
