DIY Minions Card Craft for Dads

2 Mins read

In this house, we love the Minions. Despicable Me 1-3, Minions spinoffs, and I’m sure Despicable Me 4 will be another favorite. However, the only person I can think of is a bigger fan than my kids is their Papa (my dad). So when we were thinking about a gift for Father’s Day, my kids wanted to make something. So we made this hand/footprint Minions card craft.

Liam recently said Despicable Me 3 is his favorite movie in the franchise. I agree with him, but I also love the Minions spinoff with Sandra Bullock as the villain. That was a fun one. These hand and footprint minions are just another craft in our collection. Whenever we’re crafting something, a minion makes it into the mix. We’ve crafted minion ornaments, Easter eggs, mini paintings, and even a minion train!

Making the Minions Card Craft

As long as your kids cooperate, this minions card craft is relatively easy to make. We opted for the yellow minion in its natural state and the purple minion, introduced in Despicable Me 2. My dad gets a kick out of the purple minions, so we definitely needed to include that one.

Supplies:

You can use either your hand or foot to make a yellow minion. The purple minion needs some tall hair, so we found the hand print was a better option, as fingers made a good hairstyle. Although, I can see using a foot print with toes at the top for hair for a purple minion, too.

Using yellow or purple paint, paint your kids’ foot or hand. Make note of how you want to paint the minion. Fingers upright for purple minion hair or the heel of your foot for the yellow minion head. Push the hand or foot firmly on the paper and lift gently to leave a painted hand/foot print behind.

To finish off the minion, paint on overalls with blue paint, glue a googly eye (or eyes), and I used a permanent marker for the goggle outline and hair. Write your message and deliver with care.
