Merry Christmas from our family to yours! 2018 has been a whirlwind and we can’t believe we get to celebrate our first Christmas with our son. As our family changes, so will our traditions. Luckily he doesn’t really know what’s going on yet, so we have at least another year to figure out our family’s traditions for the holidays. Like doing an annual family Christmas card.
What we do know is we will continue our holiday tradition of giving back. Our volunteering efforts extend all year-long, we don’t just volunteer in December. However, the holiday season is our busiest month and is full of food, toy, and clothing drives. We want him to know that the holiday season is not just about presents.
Christmas Card 2018
One of our traditions will be a family Christmas card; matching pajamas and all.
We had so much fun taking this photo. I plugged in the camera to our TV so our son could see us. He just kept laughing and smiling at the ‘people’ on the TV.
We were so averse to couple photos in matching pajamas, but warmed up to the idea with our son. I loved how this photo turned out. We researched matching pajamas from a number of companies. They were too expensive, itchy, or the patterns were screen-printed on the clothes. We wanted jammies that were usable after a photo shoot. We originally ordered Burt’s Bees pajamas. They were super soft, breathable, and their quality was great. However, their sizing makes no sense. So we went back to the drawing board.
While a one stop shop for a matching set of pajamas is easier, we could get better quality pajamas and save money by buying separate pieces. Almost all of our pajama separates are from an Old Navy Black Friday sale. Our son’s bottoms came from The Children’s Place.
It seemed like a mad dash to find pajamas when we changed course. But it all worked out in the end. I can’t wait to figure out what we’re going to do next year!
Setting the Scene
Aside from the jammies, we wanted to stage our apartment for the photo. Fatima made a beautiful flower arrangement and I made the gingerbread cookies. The pillows are from H&M’s home collection.
