Fall has arrived! Time to eat everything with pumpkin and apple spice. Brian is working hard with MBA classes so we decided to make most of our fall blogging over the course of one weekend. To get rid of all the food we made, we enlisted some of our closest friends to come over and eat our Apple Cider Donuts.
I can’t even begin to tell you the amount of food we made. Of course, there needed to be donuts – and more than one kind. Apple cider donuts are a must have every fall, and are a personal favorite of mine. Whenever I am at a farmers market, I immediately search for the stand selling them. I’ve never made them on my own, and to be honest I was a little nervous to mess up one of my favorite fall treats. But these apple cider donuts from Sally’s Baking Addition came out amazing!
We prepped and made most of the food the night before so we could actually enjoy our company. While making the food, we thought we wouldn’t have enough and we were sadly mistaken. While we started to set up and put the food out there wasn’t enough room to fit everything. We told our guests to show up with their stretchy pants on and bellies empty.
Our Sunday consisted of gossiping, laughs, watching Cinderella (the Brandy and Whitney Houston version) and Hocus Pocus, eating, drinking, and tuning into the Emmys. As we’re getting older, I realized we don’t get to hang out with some of our friends as much as we used to and it was nice to take a day to chill with good food and friends. At the end of the night, we sent everyone home (who was willing) with a goody bag. Poor Nick, he lugged the remaining donuts and cookies back to Astoria. Overall, it was an amazing day and the apple ciders donuts were a perfect addition.
