Al Fresco and Picnic Tips

1 Mins read

Summer is a great time to dine al fresco. Here are few tips for wining and dining outside. Whether it’s on your deck, patio, the park, or even your fire escape, eating outside can get a little aggravating if bugs are involved. But have no fear, a natural remedy is here. All you need are two things: Whole Cloves and Lemons. Pesty little bugs hate the combined smell of cloves and lemons. All you need to do is, 1. Cut lemons in half and 2. Stick about 10 whole cloves into the lemons. Do this about 30 minutes before bringing food outside and the bugs should leave you alone! When in a crunch, sprinkle some powdered cloves over the lemon slices and that should suffice.

Last year, we met up with Edwin at Chelsea Piers to watch American Hustle on the Hudson River. In the days leading up to the movie, it rained. Before meeting up with Edwin, I stopped at the store to buy a shower curtain liner. I used this as a barrier between our blanket and the soggy grass. If you’re planning a picnic and afraid of some dew (great for evening picnics), bring along a shower liner to protect your blanket and bum from getting wet.
