Whipped Pineapple Margarita

1 Mins read

I love that National Margarita Day is celebrated annually on the twenty-second of February. For the northern hemisphere, literally the weirdest time of the year, especially for a frozen margarita. But, here we are in February, perfectly timed with the remaining stragglers giving up on dry January. We’re celebrating with a Whipped Pineapple Margarita.

This margarita is inspired by our trip to Disney World. Our hotel was the only resort property with Dole Whip on location. What was even better was the pool bar had a dole whip margarita. That’s what we’re trying to recreate. Last year, we recreated another favorite Disney vacation margarita, the rose gold margarita.

To make the Whipped Pineapple Margarita, you need just two additional ingredients.

To pull off this cocktail, head to the store and pick up some frozen pineapple and vanilla ice cream (in addition to your usual margarita fixings). If you just want the Dole Whip, Disney’s not so secret recipe is right here. Make it, freeze it. Make sure it’s frozen because you should have made that yesterday.

When I made this marg for the photos, I made it wrong. Within 15 minutes of drinking this, I realized I added in too much tequila! I was feeling super relaxed and tipsy–in a good way. But it really works with this margarita. I should have dropped in 4 shots of tequila (batch is for two people), and I added in 6 shots. I write this to tell you that if you add in 4 shots, you may not taste the tequila, and that may be ok for you. However, if you’re looking for that tequila taste to come through, throw in another shot…or two. So I cut the overage in half and recommended 5 shots.

This recipe is very similar to our popular frozen pineapple margarita–one of my favorites. One of the main differences is the ice cream; it gives this margarita that creamy Disney Dole Whip texture.

If you’re in the market for a blender, this classic KitchenAid 5-speed blender is the best. We received this as a wedding gift, and for nearly a decade, has been mixing up smoothies and margaritas.
