Our weekend in Paris kicked off our week-long adventure through France. Our next stop is where we would be spending the rest of our week basking in the sun (and heat!) of Nice. We had an amazing time. Like our Paris itinerary, I filled our days with tourist attractions, but made sure to take it at a slower pace and throw in relaxation all around. Here are some things to do in Nice, France.
When we were done with Paris, we said, “Sure let’s go back to see more.” As we were leaving Nice, we said, “We are definitely coming back.” Surprisingly, Nice was very family-friendly. We did not anticipate that and gave us a really good idea of what to do when we bring the kids on our next trip.
Sixteen Things to do in Nice, France
Eats
1. Les Bars du Negresco
An iconic location with great drinks. Make this your ‘Welcome to Nice’ happy hour.
2. Olim Meyerbeer
The day we walked all over Nice is the day we had breakfast at Olim Meyerbeer. It’s the cutest spot where all the food comes in jars! The pain au chocolat was the best pain au chocolat we had in France!
3. Le Pass’Port Nice
When you’re visiting the port side of Nice, stop at Le Pass’Port for a crêpe and a mimosa. Sitting and eating was a must after hiking Parc de la Colline du Chateau.
4. Bocca Mar
We walked up and down the promenade on our first day looking for a dinner spot. This one had the best looking menu and it did not disappoint. The truffle linguine was ah-mazing and the chocolate mousse was to-die for.
5. Plage Beau Rivage
After a long day of walking around, we stopped at Beau Rivage for a three and a half hour dinner. Our table overlooked the beach and the sunset was perfect. Our waiter, Giovanni, was the best and helped us pick out our entire meal. We didn’t even take out our phones at dinner!
6. Glacier Papilla Nice Saint-Francois
While you’re getting lost in the streets of Old Nice, you may stumble upon this gem. The pistachio gelato was so yummy.
Sights
7. Walk down the Promenade des Anglais
You will be walking up and down this promenade during your trip. Get familiar.
8. Place Massena and Fountain du Soleil
9. Opéra de Nice
We did not go inside, but the outside was so beautiful.
10. Place Rossetti and Cathédrale Sainte-Réparate de Nice
11. Parc de la Colline du Château
Highly recommend you take this walk (err hike?) to the top. There are bathrooms, a place to eat, and plenty of shade. The views from the top are spectacular and you see everything from the port side to the promenade side of Nice.
12. Port Lympia
A few from the hike, but head down here to see the different boats and check out Le Pass’Port for the crêpes!
13. Get lost in Old Nice
Wander the streets, turn a corner. Every time we turned it was a picture-perfect moment.
Relaxation
14. Ruhl Plage
There are so many private beaches to choose from. We opted for a private beach because they provided chairs, shade, and food. This beach stuck out for two reasons. It had a promenade that jutted over the beach right into the water so you did not have to walk on the pebbles! The menu for breakfast and lunch looked great. Bonus: the margaritas were exceptional. We booked a sun bed for the day, expecting to stay for half a day, and we were there all day. The last time I felt this relaxed was in Maui.
Shops
15. Parfums Rivae – L’essence de la Côte d’Azur
If you’re looking for a small business to buy locally made items, you must check our Parfums Rivae. Soaps, perfume, lotions, you name it. Everything smelled amazing and I picked out a French parfum for myself.
16. Marché aux Fleurs cours Saleya
A very busy market filled with soaps, flowers, and other souvenir-friendly gifts.
