Orange Chicken Fried Chicken Sandwich: Cooking Through Cravings

1 Mins read

Oh my gosh. This orange chicken fried chicken sandwich was so good. There are notes, but overall, this was a really good sandwich. I love anything Fatima fries. Chicken, shrimp, fish tacos; there’s really nothing she can’t fry.

This recipe can be found in the Cravings: All Together cookbook from Chrissy Teigen. This third installment has redeemed itself from the last one. There were a handful of good recipes in that one, like the banana bread (I just made it again a few days ago), however that’s about it. In this latest cookbook, we’ve found so many new and flavorful recipes. We’ve made more repeat dishes from that cookbook than any of the first two!

I would love if Fatima could make this orange chicken fried chicken sandwich again. Our only note is on the sesame oil; it overpowered most of the sandwich. It was in the chicken seasoning, the orange glaze, and in the coleslaw. So when you’re eating the sandwich, you’re getting sesame oil from all angles. We’re suggesting to remove the sesame oil from the chicken seasoning, and reduce the sesame oil in the coleslaw to 1/4 teaspoon and use only 1/2-1 teaspoon in the orange glaze. Per the original recipe, you’re putting in 2 1/2 teaspoons of sesame oil. If you love sesame oil, then leave it as is.

Other than that, we loved the coleslaw on top of the chicken. That was a great call. Pair the sandwich with french fries, a salad, crisp vegetables, or a second sandwich! Let us know if you try this and whether you kept the full amount of sesame oil.
