Rosé is the wine of the summer. Loved by almost everyone, especially our generation, it’s a crisp, refreshing wine for the season. It’s a perfect companion on your trips to the Hamptons and lake-life weekends. Rosé on the rocks is especially fantastic on those hot summer days. But what happens when it’s too hot?? That’s where frosé comes in.
Brangelina, your rosé is good, but it’s out of my price range.
I may have had rosé once or twice before. However, we had an impromptu happy hour at work a few weeks ago, where Brangelina’s rosé was served. It was good. This led us to making frosé. We took a trip to the local wine and spirits shop in search of Brangelina’s rosé. We just came off a weekend of crafting and spending our net worth on Annie Sloan paint, so we set a budget for this frosé. Brangelina’s rosé was out of our price range. My eyes wandered the rosé display and fell on a bottle called “White Girl Rosé”. It was appropriately priced and ranked “#1 Rosé” on the display. We opted into this purchase mostly due to its label (and price).
Did you know rosé is the oldest known type of wine?
Frosé is frozen rosé. Like our frozen margaritas, just pour these ingredients in the blender and churn away. It’s that easy! When we were trying to figure out the sweetness on this, we found that a combination of sugar and honey gave it the perfect amount of sweetness. However, feel free to add more honey (or agave) to your liking. We treated this recipe like a frozen margarita. With the rosé as the base alcohol, we brightened up the mixture with citrus. We added lemonade, lemon juice and sugar for a touch of sweetness.
We didn’t think to freeze the rosé in ice-cube trays ahead of time. It’s completely optional, but if you want a really frozen drink, then do this. We aimed for a slushy consistency. It was so refreshing!
[recipe title=”Frosé” servings=”2-4″ time=”10 mins” difficulty=”easy” image=”https://liliesandloafers.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/IMG_1640.jpg”] [recipe-ingredients]- 2 cups rosé
- Equal parts ice* (see direction #2 below, about 2 1/2 cups)
- 1 cup lemonade
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp honey
- Fresh mint or strawberries for garnish
- Pour rosé in your blender.
- Add ice. Your ice should fill the same amount of space as the rosé. This should be no more than 2-2.5 cups of ice.
- Pour in lemonade and lemon juice.
- Blend up the rosé until it becomes frosé.
- Add more ice if desired and continue to blend.
- Taste it. If you love the taste, don’t add sugar or honey. But if you want to bring a little more sweetness to your drink, add in some sugar and/or honey and blend.
- Distribute into four glasses, add mint and a strawberry to eat glass, and serve immediately.
